Dragon-Handled Vase - Where Kiln Fire Meets Celestial Form
Handcrafted Jun Kiln Yongtai Vase
A collector-grade Jun kiln vase with twin dragon handles and a sky-blue-to-purple glaze transition. More than a vessel - a sculptural statement.
Dragon Handle Sculpting
Each dragon handle is hand-sculpted from the same clay body as the vase, then attached before the first firing. The dragon motif represents power and good fortune in Chinese culture.
Gradient Glaze Flow
The Jun glaze is applied in multiple layers of varying thickness. During the 1300C firing, the glaze flows downward under gravity, creating a natural gradient from thick sky-blue to thin purple-amber.
Mass-produced vases that look like hotel lobby decorations?
- ๐จ Slip-cast molds (identical, soulless)
- ๐จ Painted-on glaze (flat, no depth)
- ๐จ No cultural story or craftsmanship
Hand-sculpted dragon vase with living Jun kiln glaze - a true collector's piece.
THE DETAILS THAT MATTER
Each dragon is individually sculpted and attached by hand. The dragon motif represents power and protection in Chinese ceramic tradition. No molds.
The multi-layer Jun glaze flows during firing, creating a natural color gradient: thick sky-blue at the shoulder transitions to thin purple-amber at the foot.
The vase body is thrown from high-iron stoneware clay and fired to full vitrification. The resulting piece is incredibly dense, resonant when struck.
THE COLLECTOR'S VASE
WHY WE WIN
Factory Ceramic Vases

- โ Low-fire earthenware (porous, fragile)
The GLV Standard
- โ Hand-sculpted dragon handles (unique artistry)
- โ Natural kiln-flow glaze gradient
- โ 1300C stoneware (dense, resonant, permanent)
๐ฅ DRAGON HANDLES ARE DIFFICULT
The dragon handles are the most failure-prone element - they often crack during firing or detach. A vase that survives with intact dragons and clean glaze is rare.
